A message from some of Jakey’s closest friends to Jake, telling him to keeping fighting because we love him.
A DAY THE WHOLE FAMILY CAN ENJOY
SUNDAY 1ST MAY -THE BIG SHAVE
Come along and support Melissa and the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland by getting your heart pumping with a dance or zumba class. If that isn’t your thing, grab a sausage in bread and enjoy the show. Why not get a temporary henna tattoo while your kids are having their faces painted and hair coloured? There are plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy at very reasonable costs with all proceeds going towards charity. You can also purchase some tickets in the raffle, guess how many lollies are in the jar and buy a square on the $100 board. Make sure you stick around until 2:30pm to watch Melissa shave her head!!! Thank you to all who have donated raffle prizes – you can buy tickets by emailing this webpage or calling Melissa on 0448090260. BIG THANK YOU to Snipettes hair and beauty, Mayhem Dance Academy, Hellen Teys Hair Studio, Roving Studios-Photo booths, Forknall family, Glittery Giggles face painting, Kanga Training, Zumba and Harristown Henna artists who are volunteering their time to help with the event – words cannot express how grateful I am.
Thank you so much to National Hotel Toowoomba and Mitch Cush for auctioning off a signed jersey and raising a massive $1500 for cancer research in loving memory of Jakey. Mitch volunteered to help as soon as he heard Jake’s story and has been extremely supportive. Mitch is a kind, beautiful person and I cannot thank him enough for everything he has done to help. We’ve now reached the $10,000 mark and have crossed another item off Jake Simpson’s bucket list.
Thank you to everyone who has been supportive or donated towards reaching this goal. I am so grateful and appreciative of all of your efforts to help us cross off something that was so important to Jakey. I know he would be proud, smiling at us from above. This amount helps more than 300 families deal with the initial shock of being diagnosed with cancer which is a huge accomplishment. Details for the final event, including the big shave and a raffle, will be posted shortly
Thanks again, everyone <3
Today is exactly two weeks after Jake sadly passed away and it has been heartbreaking waking every morning knowing that we can no longer talk to or hug Jakey. We are not alone though and we are so grateful for the support that we have received.
I’d like to say a special thank you to Harristown State High School Staff and students, particularly the Year 12 cohort. As a past student and current teacher at the school, I have received constant support from all members of the Hawk Community. Events have been hosted at the school free of charge, the staff and students have attended and helped organise fundraisers and today I was completely overwhelmed when two beautiful students, Tom Lister and Caspian Inskip, surprised me on assembly with a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, a certificate of appreciation and a huge $538.15 as a donation towards the Shave For a Cure efforts. I was unaware, but a few weeks ago, a very special student voiced his want to help achieve the $10,000 cancer research target. What started as a wonderful thought was soon taken on as a personal project by some of the Gold Leaders, which then extended to the Year 12 cohort and also the staff members of Harristown. These students embody Hawk Spirit and spent hours of their own time liaising with peers and teachers to raise the funds and write a touching speech about Jake’s bucket list and my role, which they presented beautifully on assembly today. Words cannot express how proud I am of these students for their selflessness, generosity and kindness. I am so proud to call myself a Hawk and I am forever grateful to the Hawk Community. It is these moments that I will remember forever.
To all those involved, thank you again for everything! Your contribution has helped bring the total amount raised to approximately $9,400. We are almost there and we could never have done this without your help.
