The Melbourne trip was an absolute blast and allowed Jake to cross just a few more items off the bucket list. The Simpson family and Jake’s close friend BJ Pennells experienced so much of what Melbourne had to offer including the MCG, Yarra River, The Eureka Tower and Old Melbourne Gaol. They were joined by the Kruger family, Britt Ward and Johnno Althaus for some of these adventures which made the experiences even more special. One highlight was going to the Big Blue and being immersed in the rowdy atmosphere full of spirit. Overall, the trip created some beautiful memories which the family will never forget.
Unfortunately shortly after Jake’s return, he was hospitalised when he lost all sensation and control of his body from chest down. This devastating news hit hard, however Jakey remained in high spirits, saying that no matter what, he would be attending the Trivia Night Fundraiser on 30th January. True to his word, Jakey escaped hospital for just over an hour to see the massive amount of family and friends that he has. The event was held at Willowburn Soccer Club and was attended by over 100 people who all love and support Jakey and the Simpsons. Special thanks to those heavily involved in organising the event, especially Jennah Hahn, Nathan Daly, Jamie McMillan, Shaun Devey and Michelle Wockner, as well as all of the beautiful helpers on the night including the Pennells family, Cathy Fairleigh, Kim Shoesmith and everyone else involved (sorry for not naming everyone). Also a massive thanks to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle. In the end, we managed to raise a MASSIVE $6350 for Jake and his family to help pay for their medical expenses.
We have a few more events coming up including a Zumba Dance Party on 12 Feb 6:00-8:30pm at Harristown State High School Auditorium, 341-367 South St, Harristown, to help Jake complete the bucket list item of “raising $10,000 for cancer research”. Massive thank you to Harristown SHS, Nat Fraser, Toowoomba Zumba and U-Jam instructors for donating the venue and your time. This night will be fantastic so turn up and pay $15 at the door for some serious fun! For any questions, please contact Nat on 0411 254 450. If you would like to donate funds towards the Shave for a Cure event as part of the $10,000 for cancer research, please donate here.
A few more videos of Jake’s adventures will be posted shortly so please stay tuned!
Have a lovely day
